We will perform a simple experiment involving the rolling of a metal ball down an inclined plane and measuring the time taken for the ball to travel the horizontal track.
In this project, we will:
1. Determine the angle of inclination for which the time of travel across the horizontal track will be least.
2. Learn how to use a photogate sensor
3. Make use of concepts such as conservation of energy and kinetic and potential energy.
We had a task that required us to vary the placement of the inclined ramp and photogate sensors to get the timing closest to 1.4s. Below is the video of our test which had a timing of 1.4086s.
